Thuan Tinh Island

At Thuan Tinh Island Cooking Class, we had a very unique experience. Meeting in Hôi An, we embarked on our culinary adventure. First, taking a trip to the local produce market to purchase some fresh, locally grown ingredients, fish, meat, vegetables and herbs.

We then boarded our river boat for a relaxing ride to Thuan Tinh Island, which is recognised by Hoi An as an official ecological zone.  There we visited the Local Organic Vegetable Village, we took a row boat ride through the water coconut trees which was so relaxing. We then walked through the gardens, picking some fresh vegetables.  We walked on to Ms. Hoa's house to meet her family and snack on grilled rice cakes. We then headed back to the open-air cooking class overlooking the water, coconut trees and river.

Our beautiful interpreter and guide named Hue, it was her first tour of interpreting and she did an amazing job and all the while thanking us for our support and telling us how special the day was her as she felt it was a success - and it was a brilliant success.

Our chefs patiently and very expertly taught us how to make Vietnamese food while we enjoyed the cool breeze, peaceful setting and plenty of passionfruit juice.  Among the dishes we made were Goi Cuon- Fresh Rice Paper Salad Rolls with Pork and Shrimp with a Tangy Peanut Hoisin Dipping Sauce, Banh Xeo (Vietnamese pancake), Pho and amazing Vietnamese salad.
