Buffalo Kill - Kruger 2016

The day after we photographed a pride of lionesses and cubs on this buffalo kill we returned to find they had moved on. In accordance with the hierarchy of nature in the African bush the hyenas, jackals and vultures had moved in for a feed off the remains of the buffalo carcass the lionesses had pulled down. Nature is both gruesome and fascinating. We were so close to this action we could hear the blood curdling sound of the hyenas biting through bone and the jackal ripping at the flesh. All the while this group of creatures are maintaining a watchful eye in case the lions return.
