Nikko is Nippon

 The shrines of Nikko are astounding.  So elaborate.  Nikko Toshogu shrine is so elaborate with 611 engraved works on Kara-mon Gate alone.  There are a total of 5,173 works in the entire Nikko Toshogu Shrine.  Varieties of motifs include the dragon, which was considered to be the symbol of the royal authority with mystic power, legendary sage, playing children, imaginary animals of baku and gilins, flowers and birds.
