OKUNOIN
Okunoin is considered the most sacred site at Koyasan. It is the place of Kobo Daishi’s mausoleum, where he is believed to be in eternal meditation.
The path leading to the mausoleum meanders through an ancient cemetery containing over 200,000 gravestones of some of the most influential people in Japanese history.
