Yangshuo - Guilin - Land of the Karst

Pedalling across the autumnal coloured rice fields through the soaring limestone peaks of Yangshuo is an exhilarating experience.  The scenery really captures the quintessential China.

Field upon field of rice part way through being harvested with the river running beside the fields and limestone karsts majestically rising for the sky.

The countryside draped either side with the soaring karsts and the beautiful river running through them

We caught a bus to Yending and then took a raft ride down the Li River to the village of Xinping.  Some of the walls in Xinping have interesting stencils.

The following day we had an amazing bicycle ride through the fields and took the leisurely bamboo raft along the Yulong River.  It was so serene and peaceful.

It feels surreal drifting along the Yulong river on a bamboo raft, but off course there are the little waterfalls that require careful navigation.

Yungshou is an interesting enough city but really it is a base for exploring the beauty of the Li and Yulong Rivers and countryside.
